Resources, Collaboration and Education for the Design Community

NRMCC is committed to providing resources for reduced carbon construction and help to create better-designed, more sustainably produced concrete. To achieve this, NRMCC has developed a suite of digital applications and tools called CarbonClarity™, a suite which includes three applications: Project Builder, EPD Generator, and Concrete Designer.

Project Builder is a first-of-its-kind design tool that enables architects and engineers to quickly evaluate the range of possible embodied carbon impacts for an entire project, at any stage in the design cycle.

It generates a range of mix design options, creating a base for efficiently finalizing a ready-mix solution that meets all performance criteria. Lode notes, “this enables the early collaboration that is so critical for all projects in order to meet sustainability goals.”

EPD Generator provides transparency with unlimited, instant, and verified EPDs for any concrete mix. This enables NRMCC to quickly respond to customer requests for environmental data with accurate and verified environmental impact information for any mix. “It’s important to measure embodied carbon in concrete and generate EPDs efficiently; it’s a gamechanger for many of our customers,” Halverson says.

Concrete Designer allows engineers to quickly calculate and document the embodied emissions of any new mix design. This system generates a report that includes the mix design and all associated environmental impacts, enabling close collaboration with the building design community early in a project cycle. Little stresses again, ‘this goes back to the role of collaboration being the key to success in the transition to Type 1L cement and sustainability initiatives.”

NRMCC's commitment to providing resources is evident through the development of innovative tools like Carbon Clarity. These tools not only support the growing market for reduced carbon construction but also encourage collaboration among project stakeholders to optimize performance, durability, and sustainability.
